Where Is It?

Bronte Beach is located between Bronte Road and Bayview Street / Bronte Marine Drive along Sydney’s eastern coastline. Connect to Bronte Road from Carrington Road via Syd Enfield Drive.

The Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk also passes through here, with Bronte Park backing onto the beach. Through the park there is access from Murray Street, Hewlett Street and Bayview Street, as well as Bronte Road.

Buses

The 440 stops on Bronte Road while the 360 & 362 stop on Hewlett Street.

The best street address is Bronte Rd, Bronte NSW 2024.

Parking

Like most of the beaches in the eastern suburbs parking is mainly a streetside affair. Bayview Street off Bronte Marine Drive has some parking as does Bronte Road, although the proximity to the cafes makes it difficult. You can sometimes find good metered parking at the end of Bronte Road where it meets Macpherson Street and the rock formations make it a shared pedestrian zone.

Things To Do


Swimming Between The Flags, Or In The Ocean Baths

Whether you’re walking the Bondi To Coogee Track or just need to escape the summer heat, Bronte Beach is a great place to cool off. There’s plenty of food about, so stay between the flags and watch out for surfers.  Alternatively, there are two rockpools at Bronte beach, one is man made, the other naturally occuring. Both are perfect for splashing about or doing some laps when the surf is rough.

Surfing The Reef And Breaks At Bronte

Bronte Beach is popular with surfers of all skill levels, with the reef at the south end providing good opportunites. You’ll also find left breaks in the northern part of the beach.  Bronte can get quite popular in the summer but you might find some joyal nearby Mckenzies Bay.

Early Morning Anglers

Get in at dawn when there’s not too many swimmers and you’ll find good gutters at both ends of the beach. Always follow the rules and regulations, carry a valid fishing licence and fish with a partner when rock fishing.

Grab A Bite At The Kiosk or One of The Cafes

There’s a kiosk near the SLSC serving up snacks, pies, cold drinks and hot coffee, or check out the many cafes that dot Bronte Road including Jenny’s, Cafe Salina, The Bogey Hole, and Bronte Belo.

Have A Picnic & Take The Kids To The Playground At Bronte Park

Just off the back of the beach, Bronte Park is a large, well shaded park with covered picnic tables, barbecues and the famous kids train ride. It’s a great spot to relax and hang out after a hard day at the beach or strolling the promenade. This is Sydney after all!

Traverse The Coastal Walk

The most popular leg of this epic coastal walk, the Bondi To Coogee Coastal Walk, passes through Bronte Beach on its way south to Clovelly Beach on north to Tamarama. It’s a beautiful scenic stroll with plenty of natural stopping points, iconic sights and beaches.
