Things To Do

Whale Watching From Captain Cook Lookout

While the view from Winney Bay is northward to Avoca (and slightly obscured by trees) Captain Cook Lookout offers a panorama of the Pacific Ocean to the east, and is one of the best whale watching spots on the Central Coast. From the Winney Bay Lookout follow the stairs up and past the picnic area to the large platform. The best times of year to Whale Watch are June-July and October-November. Make sure you bring some binoculars, hat and a wind jacket as the platform is exposed with pretty high winds.
