Getting to Coogee Beach, Coogee

 Where Is It?

Coogee beach is located on Arden Street and Coogee Bay Road. Dunningham Reserve is to the north, and Grant Reserve is to the south.


Many buses stop nearby on Arden Street at Goldstein Reserve, including the 313,314, 353, 370, 372, 373, 374, m50 and x73.


The closest street address is the corner of Dolphin Street and Arden Street, Coogee NSW 2034

Coogee Beach is a popular swimming beach, with lifesavers from the historic Coogee Beach Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) patrolling the surf most of the year round. There’s also the an ocean pool if you’re looking for something a little more laid back.

Surfing The Swell

While many surfers flock to Bronte Beach for the waves, Coogee is popular in the summer and during large swells, where ‘The Southy’, an offshore reef, can produce decent waves.

Dunningham Park Sydney Coogee Beach Views


Under heavy conditions expect decent fishing spots at both ends of the beach on the rocky headlands Be careful though, it can be pretty dangerous at the best of times, wear a safety jacket and always fish with a partner.


Volleyball is popular at the northern end of the beach with nets set up near Dunningham Park. Show off your skills or just grab a cool drink and watch as the experts strut their stuff.

Both Goldstein Reserve and Dunningham Reserve offer plenty of shady spots to relax and unwind. There’s even barbecue and picnic facilities. Or head south past the SLSC for Grant Reserve, with it’s phenomenal playground and access to ocean baths.

Head to the kiosk in Goldstein Park or across the road on Arden Street and up Coogee Bay Road where there’s a bounty of options. Can’t find anything you like? You’re probably not that hungry.

    There are numerous cafes and takeaways on Arden Street. There is also a fish and chips shop in Goldstein Reserve and Coogee Surf Life Saving club at the southern end.

  • Rubbish Bins

    There are plenty of rubbish and recycling bins along the Promenade and in Goldstein Reserve.

  • Toilets, Change Rooms & Showers

    There are toilets and Change room facilities in Goldstein Reserve near the bus depot. There are showers along the promenade in Goldstein Park and also along the stairs leading up to Dunningham Park.

  • Can I take my dog?

    Dogs are not permitted on the beach. You can take dogs along the promenade and in the park provided they remain on leash.

  • Can I lock my bike up

    Bikes are not permitted on the beach or to be ridden along the promenade. There are bike lockups in Goldstein Park.
