Things To Do

Kick The Footy Around (Just Watch Out For The River)

Standing in the middle of H J Mahoney Memorial Reserve, you’ve got to wonder how many overcooked balls have been lost to the Cooks River. Still, it’s a pretty great spot for a match. Teams from AFL Sydney playhere on weekends.

Enjoy A Barbecue Under Some Shady Trees

Let’s be honest, not everyone’s idea of a good time is kicking balls between posts. Some of us just prefer to chill out with a nice steak sandwich. There’s a barbecue beneath the trees near the bench seats, or you could try nearby Steel Park where there’s picnic tables and barbecues as well.

Check Out Waterplay Park & The Cooks River

Just a hop and a skip over Illawarra Road, Waterplay Park in Steel Park boasts some fun summertime Play equipment including water frames and slides. The Cooks River Cycleway runs through here, and you can also walk along the Riverbank near the sports field beneath the shady trees.
