Despite it’s large size nothing about Heffron Park is wasted. This eastern suburbs park is neatly organised into a number of discreet fields, tracks and facilities including:

  • A fenced children’s learn to ride area.
  • Children’s play equipment
  • A bicycle / running track that runs around the park
  • Sports playing fields
  • Full and half sized tennis courts
  • Netball courts

Access to Heffron Park

The park is bordered by Bunnerong Road to the west and Fitzgerald Avenue to the north. There is parking in the park (see below) and busses run up and down Bunnerong Road. Here’s a map link. 

Car Parking

There is parking off Fitzgerald Avenue and also off Bunnerong Road near the sports centre. The Des Renford Aquatic Centre has its own parking and there’s also limited streetside parking along Robey Street and the back streets nearby.


 Heffron Park Service Providers

The Matraville Sports Complex is on the western side of the park. It is run by Bob and Sandra Reid and consists of outdoor tennis courts, indoor netball, squash, cricket and soocer. For more info visit their website.

Just south of the Matraville Sports Complex, Bunngerong Gymnastics also runs classes and courses within Heffron Park. For full contact details check their website here.




The Randwick Netball Association is located near the Fitzgerald Ave carpark and runs competitions in a variety of age and skill levels. You can find more info at their website here.

This map shows the field locations by number, so if you’re playing football or netball, for example, and need to know which court you’re on, this might help.



The map link above also shows the cycling route. The route runs about 4.2 kms through and around the park. There’s no bike hire facilities, so it’s BYO.

The track is called ‘The Criterium’. A list of clubs that use the track regularly can be found here. The track surface is a little rough in places, so be forewarned.



Children’s Play

Pedal Park in an enclosed mini road network designed for kids to ride bikes and scooters around. There is shade and seating areas nearby. It is towards the Jersey Road side of the park and you should aim for parking near there.

The playground is on the other side of the seating area, also on Jersey Road. It’s partially shaded, with monkey bars, slides, rope climbing and forts. It’s close to Des Renford Centre.
