Getting To Johnson Park, Dulwich Hill

Where Is It?

Johnson Park is situated on Constitution Road near the roundabout and entrance to Arlington Recreation Reserve. Connect via Old Canterbury Road, or Union Road off New Canterbury Road.

Johnson Park is also close to Arlington Light Rail Station and the large ‘rocketship’ sculpture that can be seen on approach. There is also access via footpath on Windsor Road.

Bus & Light Rail

Arlington Light Rail is right next door, and the 428, 444 and 425 all stop on New Canterbury Road near Union Street.

Bike Route

Quiet streets about around John Reserve and Arlington. There is a footpath running through the park that is suitable for kids to ride their bikes in as well..


The best street address is Constitution Road, Dulwich Hill NSW 2203


On street parking. The area around William Parade has dedicated parking bays but it is also a dense residential area so it is not always easy to find a spot, especially during busy periods like the weekend.

Things To Do

Take The Kids To The Playground

Set along the southern entrance to Johnson Park, with the gazebo as a backdrop, the Johnson Park Playground features just about every kind of play equipment you could imagine, from climbing frames, swings and slides to challenge games. There are sun shades over most of the equipment as well.

Kids will also be amazed by the rocketship that stands at the entrance to the park near the Arlington Light Rail Station.


Enjoy A Barbecue With Friends & Family

Facilities on-site mean you can roll out the eski and enjoy a day of outdoor picnicking. The gazebo is large enough to fit the whole tribe with the inner west skyline a perfect backdrop on a cloudless day. And if someone else has already snagged the gazebo, there’s shade down the Hill to the north end of the park.


Get Fit At The Outdoor Gym (Or Just Kick A Ball Around)

When it’s not being used for competitive sports the elevated recreational field makes a great sport to practice some sprints. A modern outdoor gym sits beneath the gazebo with dynamic and stationary equipment. Set along the pathway, it’s a good stopping point for fitness fanatics on a morning job through to Arlington Reserve.


Shoot Some Hoops

Full sized outdoor basketball court near the cricket Nets and sports field with clean modern court markings and both Hoops are in good condition. It’s just another great addition to their already excellent park.


Practice Your Off Cutter At The Cricket Nets

Unleash your inner Glenn McGrath at the Johnson Park Cricket Nets. Two pitches located adjacent to the basketball court near the recreational reserve, you can not only get your eye in, but enjoy a barbecue afterwards.

    There are barbecue facilities at Johnson Park. For coffee and takeaway, the Sideways Deli & Cafe is on the corner of Constitution Road and Union Street.

    Local council is trialling offleash zones in Johnson Park, check signage for details. On leash welcome at all times.

  • Can I lock my bike up?

    There are spots near the rocketship where you can lock up a bike.



Arlington Recreational Ground

Premier sporting complex with quality synthetic turf and a large grandstand for watching games. Well maintained year round, it’s a great spot to catch a weekend game.


J. F. Laxton Reserve

Village style park just south of Arlington and Johnson Park with an expansive grass space and a shaded playground with plenty of equipment.
