Getting To Malabar Beach, Malabar

Where Is It?

Malabar Beach is located south of Maroubra Beach insides Long Bay. It is bordered by Cromwell Park to the east, which is also where you will find amenities like change rooms and toilets.
To get to Malabar Beach take Anzac Road to Franklin Street then turn right onto Dacre Street.


The address is Bay Parade, Malabar, 2036


There is limited street parking along Dacre Street and Bay Parade, as well as a small parking bay on Fisherman’s Drive near Cromwell Park and a larger bay at the end of Fisherman’s Drive near the boat access ramp.

Things To Do


Waves are generally low and there is a lifeguard tower but it is not generally in use. Water does get quite deep a few dozen metres out. There’s also a rock pool.

Malabar Rock Pool

Malabar Ocean Pool is located directly beneath Randwick Golf Club with parking further along Bay Parade.


Access the southern edge of the Bay via the boat ramp and you will find several good gutters along the south side of the beach.


Though Malabar beach had small waves there can be good surfing off the Northern rocks around Boota Point

Boat Access

There is boat access from the north side of the beach via Fisherman’s Drive.

Snorkel & Scuba Diving Boat Wreckages

There are two boat wreckages in Long Bay, making Malabar Beach a popular diving spot. The two wrecks are the MV Malabar and the Goolgwai.


Relatively calm waters and a deep Bay make Malabar a great place to break out the kayak or canoe.

    The toilets and change rooms are in n Cromwell Park just opposite Franklin Street.

    Dogs are not permitted on the beach. They are welcome in Cromwell Park on leash.

  • Is It Bike Friendly / Can I lock my bike up

    A combination of quiet streets and dedicated bike paths make Malabar Beach very accessible by bike. While there aren’t any bike lock ups, there area some posts near the breach where a bike could be chained.
