Getting To Murray Rose (Redleaf) Pool, Double Bay


Where Is It?

Murray Rose Pool is located next to Seven Shillings Beach in Blackburn Cove. Take New South Head Road to Gladswood Gardens, the pool is near the Woollahra Council Building (and there’s limited free parking in underneath).

Buses

The 323, 324, 325 & 326 all stop near the entrance to the pool and gardens.

Ferry

Double Bay Ferry us your best bet, only about a 10-25 minute walk from the wharf.

The closest Street address is the corner of New South Head Road and Gladswoood Gardens, Double Bay NSW 2028.

Parking

There’s a limited amount of onstreet parking and public parking beneath the council chambers limited to 30 minutes during business hours.

Practice Your Stroke In The Pool

Formerly called Redleaf Pool, Murray Rose Pool is perhaps the largest harbourside ocean bath in the east. There is a wraparound walkway do you can enter deeper into the pool, and floating platforms.

Lounge Out In Blackburn Gardens

When the sun gets too hot Blackburn Gardens can help you cool off with plenty of shade and soft grass. The Double Bay Library is also here, making it one of the best places in the city to grab a bit of study time.

After cooling off in the shade you’ll probably want to grab a coffee or some lunch. The Redleaf cafe is a simple, easygoing eatery that can cater to most diets. Located on the terrace upper deck, there’s a classic feel and a relaxed atmosphere even on weekends.

Take A Walk Along Seven Shilling Beach

Accessed from the Eastern side of the pool, Seven Shillings Beach is a long, sandy Harbour Beach that’s generally quieter than the pool. Bring a towel and take a dip, or just wander up and marvel as the views of the city from this idyllic location.

New Year’s Eve In The Garden

Blackburn Gardens takes about 500 revellers every NYE. The views are  decent but it fills up early in the day and you’ll need to bring your own food (There’s no alcohol or glass permitted either). Still, it’s a fun, family friendly way to bring in the New Year if you’re willing to get in early.

    There are bins at the poo.

    Murray Rose Pool has toilets, outdoor and indoor showers and change rooms.

  • Can I take my dog?

    Dogs aren’t allowed in the gardens or on the beach. Try nearby Steyne Park or Rose Bay Park Beach which both support onleash dogs.

  • Can I lock my bike up?

    No bike lockups.
