Getting To Peter Depena Reserve, Dolls Point


Where Is It?

Peter Depena Reserve is located between Russell Avenue and Sanoni Avenue in the St George suburbs of Dolls Point and Sandringham. Access by heading south along Marine Parade along the Brighton-Le-Sands foreshore and turning left onto Malula Street, or connect to Russell Avenue from Rocky Point Road in San Souci.

Buses

The 303, X03 and 478 both stop on Malula Street and Russell Avenue near Depena Reserve.

Bike Route

Follow the Cooks Park / Lady Robinsons Beach shared bike path to Peter Depena Reserve. The bike path joins Bestic Street Cycleway in Kyeemagh, which in turn connects to the Alexandra Canal Cycleway and Cooks River Cycleway via the Eve Street Cycleway.

The best street address is corner of Malula Street and Carruthers Drive, Dolls Point NSW 2219

Parking

There is dedicated parking on Carruthers Street and at the south end of Cooks Park on Sandringham Street. Even so, Depena Reserve is a popular park during the summer and school holidays. so you will want to get in early or find parking on the backstreets nearby.

Throw The World’s Greatest Australia Day BBQ

With plenty of electric barbecues (free to use) a couple of large covered picnic enclosures and multiple smaller tables (both shaded and covered) there’s plenty of opportunity to show off your skills as an outdoor chef. Peter Depena Reserve is one of Sydney’s most popular picnic parks, particularly on public holidays like Australia Dsyx so get in early during the holidays to secure a spot.

Take A Dip (Or Try Your Hand At Kite Surfing)

While it’s not patrolled by lifesavers, the water at Dolls Point Beach is mostly flat and calm, making it a popular swimming beach during the summer. When the winds are high, expect to find upa dozen or so kite surfers catching air (and waves) around the sandy headland to the north of the beach. Dolls Point Beach part of the Lady Robinsons Beach Foreshore which has one of the largest and most active kite surfing communities in Sydney.

Get In Early For Some Fishing Off The Groyne

The best spots for fishing along Cook Park and Peter Depena Reserve include the extensive rock groynes stretching out into Botany Bay. Get in early to avoid the crowds or try your luck in the late afternoons. Fish you might find in this part of Botany Bay include whiting, bream and flathead.
