Just east of the city, Rushcutters Bay Park is a sprawling green space set against the harbour with plenty of charm and character.

Where Is It?

Rushcutters Bay Park is located between Rushcutters Bay and New South Head Road, with Waratah Street to the West and New Beach Road to the east. From the city take William Street until it becomes New South Head Road after the tunnel. There is also a bus stop just out the front

There is timed street side parking on New Beach Road (2 hours) as well as parking on Waratah Street.

Things To Do


The playground is located next to the cafe and toilets. It has slides, swings and a fort climb in a fenced and gated area with natural shade provided by massive, ancient trees.


The cafe is located near the playground in the eastern section of the park and serves coffees, sandwiches and juices in a relaxed, shady setting.

Outdoor Fitness Gym

The fitness gym is located in the eastern section of the park, not far from the bridge crossing. It features chin up bars, balance beams and other equipment. There also signage to help with some demo excercises

Rushcutters Bay Park Outdoor Gym

New Year’s Eve Fireworks

Rushcutters Bay Park is a popular spot to watch the fireworks. Though you won’t have a complete view of the bridge, the proximity to the water makes it an ideal viewing spot to take in many of the firework displays.

Rushcutters Bay Walk / Jog / Cycling Track

There is a shared walking and cycling track running along the bay and through some sections of the park. It’s a really great track with picturesque views of the harbour along with boats moored at the Marina.

Tennis Courts

The tennis courts are located at the eastern end of the park near the cricket oval. There is also a cafe where you can get coffee, sandwiches and drinks as well as a catered function room. Check their website for more details.

Predominately a cricket oval, the field features a classic picket fence and historic grandstand along with practice nets to one side.

There is also a cricket pitch located close to the bay on the eastern side of the park.

There are steps down to the water at the eastern end of the park.

    There is a cafe near the playground and a kiosk at the tennis courts, along with a catered function room that can be hired.

  • Rubbish Bins

    There are a number of bins scattered through the park.

  • Toilets

    Toilets are located east near the playground and cafe, and west at the Reg grandstand as well as at the tennis courts.

  • Can I take my dog?

    Dogs are welcome in the park but obviously not on the oval. There’s timed off leash dog areas at the eastern end of the park between 4:30am – 8:30am. Timed of leash in the western section is between Check the signs for more details. There are also dog bag dispensers at many of the bins.

  • Can I Ride My Bike / Lock my bike up

    Yes. There shared pedestrian and cycling track runs through the park. There is also bins parking near the grandstand and tennis courts.
