Where Is It?

Located along the Cooks River Cycleway, Steel Park is bordered by Illawarra Road and the Marrickville PCYC. Waterplay Park is within Steel Park, HJ Mahoney Memorial Reserve is nearby, as is famous cycle stop Adora Handmade Chocolates. Access via the Cooks River Cycleway or Illawarra Road from Marrickville Road.

Bus, Light Rail & Train

The 423 and L23 stop on Illawarra Road right outside the park. Dulwich Hill Station, Marrickville Station and Dulwich Hill Light Rail are all about 10 minutes walk away.

Bike Route

Let The Kids Loose At Waterplay Park

When the weather’s warm and the kids want to cool.off Waterplay Park is the place to be. Suitability distant from the river but close to the picnic areas, you’ll find dozens of kids and families there in the summer months cooling off with the fun, water centric play equipment.


Enjoy A Barbecue Picnic By The Cooks River

Why not make a day of it. Break out the bicycles and cycle along the river bank before stopping off in the shade of covered picnic tables for a lovely family picnic along the picturesque Cooks River.


Watch A Game At Steel Park

Most commonly used for soccer in the Canterbury District Soccer Association and cricket in the summer, Steel Park’s multipurpose sports field is lined with shady trees and the ideal sport to watch a bit of casual sport (or maybe kick a ball around yourself).


Build Up Those Biceps At The Outdoor Gym

Located east of the sporting field, there’s a modern outdoor gym with plenty of equipment. Nearby trees provide shade and there’s shared bike / walking path along the route.

Across Illawarra Road, H J Mahoney Reserve is dedicated AFL field set along the river with barbecues and picnic facilities.
