Getting To The Crest Sporting Complex, Bass Hill


Where Is It?

The Crest is a vast array of sporting fields and facilities located near the Dunc Gray Velodrome and Bankstown Skatepark in Chester Hill, just off the Hume Highway. Follow the signs onto Johnston Road then connect to Mclean Street via Rex Road.

Buses

The 907 bus stops on the Hume Highway and the 905 stops on Johnston Road nearby.

Parking

There is a large parking lot off MacLean Street, though the route is often blocked from Craysfield Road, so it’s better to approach from Rex Road. There’s also parking bays along Craysfield Road.

Sprint Like Shervo On The Athletics Field

Centre stage at the Crest is a modern Athletics Field encircling an high grade synthetic sporting field where you’ll find top division teams competing on the weekend. Young runners should check out the Bankstown Little Athletics Club website for competitive athletics events.

Kick A Ball Around Or Join A Competition

There’s rugby fields at both ends of the park and soccer fields at Bellevue Reserve just behind the main complex. Bring a ball down for a kick around with some mates or join the local comp for weekend competitions. And There’s Field Hockey

A Free Outdoor Gym… Plus A Kids Playground

Nestled between the Bellevue Reserve soccer fields and the synthetic hockey field, the outdoor gym is free to use with a variety of fixed and dynamic equipment, while the playground is brightly coloured with exciting slides, swings and fort climb, monkey bars.

And Cycling Right Around The Corner

If you don’t quite quality for the velodrome there’s the outdoor Crest Criterium Track at Louisa Reserve next door. A fun circuit through ponds and bushland where you’ll often find the Bankstown Sports Cycling Club warming up there of a weekend.

    There’s canteens at the main playing field and there’s also usually a sausage sizzle on weekends.

    You’ll find rubbish bins throughout the park.

    There are toilets and changerooms at the main playing field, some near the rugby / soccer field and more near the hockey grounds.

  • Can I take my dog?

    Take your dog to nearby Macleay Reserve for plenty of space to run around.

  • Can I lock my bike up?

    There’s some bike lockups near the Dunc Gray Velodrome building close to the entrance to the park.

Just off the Hume Highway, this is one of Sydney’s best skateparks, and you’ll also find a decent dirt mountain bike track as well.

Right outside the velodrome this 500 meter circuit is a nice ride through bushland and ponds, and only a stone’s throw from the Crest.
