Where Is It?

Trumper Park occupies a large swath of bushland in Paddington between the corner of Glenmore Road and Hampden Street to the north west and Quarry Street and Jersey Road to the south east. There are a number of access points around the park with ingress from Glenmore Road, Roylston Street, Cecil Street, Harris Street, Quarry Street, Bowes Avenue and New Mclean Street.

By Train

Edgecliff Station is nearby with access from the footpath off New Mclean Street.

By Bus

The 324, 325 & 328 all stop on New South Head Road near Glenmore Road.

Explore The Bushwalking / Bicycle Track

It’s not too often that you get the opportunity for a bit if bush walking in the inner east. The trail here is a mix of hard dirt and asphalt and is suitable for mountain bikes as well as foot traffic. It’s also dog friendly. The path leads to a pleasant lond where you will find ducks and other water fowl and some bench seats to sit and relax in the shade.

Established in 2008 the Paddington Community Gardens are located behind the tennis courts close to the council nursery. Spend 15 Minutes At The Duck Pond

The duck pond is about halfway along the main bush track and makes for a natural stopping point. Quiet and peaceful, the bench seats are thoughtfully placed and make for a great spot to sit and reflect, or just catch up with the newspaper.

Trumper Oval caters to cricket and AFL and has a small grandstand, kiosk and amenities block. When not in use for competitive sports it is a popular area for kicking a ball around and jogging. Dogs are not permitted on the oval at any time.

Two cricket nets are located inside Trumper Oval on the eastern side. They are only accessible through the oval, but are free to use when the are no matches on.

Who Is Victor Trumper?

The enigmatic Victor Trumper was probably the most versatile batsman during the Golden Age Of Cricket. Known for his stylish batting and ability to play on almost any wicket. He was also instrumental in the formation of Rugby League as a sport in Australia. A plaque commemorating his achievements as ‘The Immortal Victor’ can be found at the Frank Dixon Grandstand at Trumper Oval.

Take The Kids To Trumper Park Playground

The playground is located just north of the oral and includes swings, slides and forts. It is fenced with sunshades to keep the sun off.

And There’s Long Jump & Netball Hoop

Next to the playground is a single netball hoop and a long jump pit Suitable for kids. The long jump runway is astroturf and would also be suitable for kids cricket practice, but there isn’t much room to smash the ball.

There are off and on leash dog areas in the park. The bush walking trail is off leash but the area around the playground is on leash and dogs should be kept clear of the oval as well.

Don’t Forget Wentworth Tennis Centre

    During matches you can pick up drinks and snacks from the Kiosk at Trumper Oval. Paddington Bowling Club is at the other end of the park near the tennis courts.

  • Rubbish Bins

    There are rubbish bins at the oval near the amenities block and grandstand. Many of the exits and entrances have bins and there are some near the tennis courts as well.

  • Toilets

    Toilets are located behind the kiosk at Trumper Oval near the grandstand.

  • Can I take my dog?

    Yes! dogs are welcome in the park with off and on leash zones. See above for more details.

  • Can I lock my bike up?

    There are no bike lockups but there are a few fenced areas where you could lock up a bike.
