Located next to the Canterbury Velodrome, Waterworth Park is mostly used for as a touch footy sports ground. Local magpies can be territorial in spring.

Getting to Waterworth Park, Earlwood

Where Is It?

Waterworth Park is located on Bayview Drive opposite Gough Whitlam Park and just south of the bridge from Tempe Station. The park is bordered by the Cooks River to the north and Wolli Creek to the south.

By Train

Tempe Station is a short walk from the park.

By Bicycle

Waterworth Park is close to the Cooks River Cycleway, offering easy bike access to the park. See below for more details.


There is a small dedicated parking lot that is also used for the Velodrome

Cooks River Cycleway

A 25 kilometer stretch of bike track that extends from Botany Bay to the Parramatta River, following the Cooks River through the inner west and southwest.

Canterbury Velodrome

Located in the park. Bookings can only be made by riding clubs, not individuals.

Formerly Wolli Park

The site was called Wolli Park in the early 20th Century. From 1955 to the early 60s it was a rubbish tip. Waterworth comes from Ashton Waterworth, who was the council’s Alderman from 1928 to 1934.

    Kiosk might be open during game times our cross the road to Gough Whitlam Park where there is a cafe near the playground.

  • Rubbish Bins

    There are a few rubbish bins in the park.

  • Toilets

    There are toilets in the clubhouse block but they might be locked when there are no games on. Try Gough Whitlam Park across the road.

  • Can I take my dog?

    Dogs are welcome on leash if kept away from the playing fields.

  • Can I lock my bike up

    There’s no dedicated bike parking but you could chain a bike to the wooden barriers in the carpark.

Just across the road, Gough Whitlam Park has basketball courts, playground, monuments and a cafe.

A sports field with adjoining playground and picnic and barbecue area, the track along the Cooks River makes for some nice scenery.
