Getting To Waverley Park, Bondi Junction

Where Is It?

Waverley Park is bordered by Bondi Road to the north and Birrell Street to the south. It’s approximately 20 minute walk from Bondi Junction, or a short drive / bike ride.


The 380 & 381 buses stop on Bondi Road.


The nearest street address is corner of Bondi Road and Park Parade, Bondi NSW 2026


There is limited streetside parking on Birrell Street, St Mary’s avenue, Goldie’s Avenue, Park Parade, Paul Street and Bondi Road.

Things To Do

Off Leash Dog Exercise Area

Dogs are welcome on leash in the park (though not near the playground / picnic areas). The off leash section is in the south east area of the park south of the oval.

Netball Courts

Waverley Park Community Garden

There is a thriving community garden near the netball courts run by a group of Eastern Suburbs locals. Great to see community gardens popping up all over the city’s east. To join in, find out more at their Website.

Outdoor Fitness Gym

The outdoor fitness station includes chin up bars, sit up and push up stations and is free to use. Located just south of the oval, it’s one of many outdoor gyms in the Eastern Suburbs.

Waverley Park Garderns

Cricket Nets

The cricket nets are free to use. Located near the netball courts, the can get busy on weekends, but are in good condition. A decent spot to practice your fast bowl.

A premier cricket ground for major events, the supplementary ovals nearby can be booked by the council. Email venuehire@waverley.nsw.gov.au or telephone 9083 8300.

Margaret Whitlam Recreation Centre

Overlooking Waverley Oval, the recreation centre includes multi use indoor sports court, function rooms, change rooms and toilets and a cafe with great outdoor seating where you can glimpse the sea to the east. Find the contact details for the centre on their Website

Bocce Court

The single Bocce Court is near the netball courts and is free to use. Bocce is a pretty niche sport, but it’s actually a lot of fun, especially if you have a few friends. Think of it like lawn bowls, but louder, with more energy.

Children’s Playground

The children’s playground is pretty unique with a rocketship and a slide, some swings and other sets. It’s located between the Margaret Whitlam Recreation Centre and the stairs to the reservoir.

    There is a cafe at the Whitlam Recreation Centre overlooking the oval. There’s some kids tables and high chairs as well

  • Rubbish Bins

    Plenty of bins scattered about the park

  • Toilets

    There are unisex toilets at the cafe and recreational centre and another toilet block near the basketball courts.

  • Can I take my dog?

    Yes. Dogs are welcome in the park on leash.

  • Can I ride my bike / lock my bike up

    Shared bike / walk paths weave through the park and are pretty nice to cycle around in. There are some bike lock ups near the playground in a shaded area.
